J CAMDEN WOMACK

FILMMAKER | STORYTELLER

  • Experience.

Filmmaking is about portraying reality to the viewer. It doesn’t mater if this is our reality that we exist within, or if it is a new reality that is created on screen. It’s about creating a truth and selling it.

The experience created by video combines our senses of sight and sound, but so much more goes into it. There’s tempo and emotion that drive the rhythm of the story. Within the edit you can push a feeling out to the viewer.

Filmmaking creates a new reality for a viewer, and like an engineer it is our job to think of every creative solution to perfectly construct the reality we want to create.

  • Dreams.

Reality doesn’t compare to the dreams my mind thinks up. The different worlds and impossible stories enthrall me, but it is the stories within these dreams that keeps me hooked. These stories stick in my mind for days, months, years.

For me, I consider some of my dreams to be a part of my own story. They helped shape me, or made me see something in a new way. In that same way, the stories I’ve seen in movies can move and impact me in the same way.

My greatest goal is to work to learn to create my own dream on the screen and share them with others with a passion for stories.

  • Visually.

When I was young, I wanted to be a writer. I still have that passion, but my biggest problem was being able to perfectly define the images I saw in my mind. There were never enough adjectives I could cleanly string together to create the image I wanted.

That is what led me to cinema. Being a visual person, I realized that instead of struggling to create an image in someone’s imagination, I could actually show them.

I have a unique visual style, with a knack for creating new and interesting worlds, creatures, and stories in a visual way. And that is what I do: help others experience dreams visually.

GEAR EXPERIENCE

Experience Dreams Visually

I am a person made up of stories. They are my chosen commodity. My weapon of choice. My favorite escape. The only thing I really own.

I’m not one to always remember. I’m always too preoccupied with what’s to come: the next grand venture. But I am one for reminiscing. For capturing a moment to hold onto.

There’s never enough time to see, hear, or tell all of the stories we want to. But that just means I’ll never have to run out of stories to tell. Truth. Fiction. Dreams. They all inspire me to see from a different angle, or to imagine a different life. My story, along with everyone else’s, is made up of every supervillain we battled and kingdom we saved.

The stories we see and know define us. I owe everything I have to give to those brave enough before me to write a new story, and all of those who helped me tell mine.

Here’s to the stories, and to the ones we’ll continue to share.

Thank you.
